To my foreign friends who do not know what is The King of Fruits, this is how it looks like. The taste and smell is something to be acquired and it is up to each individual's preference.
Durian is especially famous for its smell. Most Asians love the durians but for many who have not had the opportunity to grow up with the king of fruits, this is deemed the stinky fruit. Conclusion, it may be the heavenly indulgence for some, it is a stinking hell for others!
Anyway, studies found the durian to contain a high amount of sugar, vitamin C and potassium. It is also a good source of carbohydrates, proteins and raw fats. Definitely a good alternative to carbo-load for my lo kong before any of his marathon race. Only setback, this fruit is seasonal.
As I am a coffee-loving junky, I've just found way to complement my coffee with the king of fruit. It has been recommended to drink coffee while eating durian due to its harmonious flavor with the fruit. Supposedly invigorating, so I'll volunteer to be the guinea pig first!

Yeah Rick, the King of Fruits is not allowed in any air-conditioned places and even on board the plane.
If you're ever in Kuala Lumpur and it happens to be in season, I promise to give you a treat.

God, grant me the serenity to accept things I can't change; Courage to change things I can; And wisdom to know the difference.

I hope I get to try that someday. My friend took her kids to visit family in Vietnam last summer and they loved their first taste of Durian. But they were not allowed to take it inside their hotel--it was forbidden.
