A friend in our running community has just suffered the loss of his beloved mother. My deepest sympathy goes out to him and his family.
Death is the inevitable end in the progression of our life. It is not an option. Are we afraid? I was and I must admit the fear has not been totally removed. I am only human. However, through my progression in life, I believe I have managed to find some semblance of wisdom and learned to face death with a little more perspective and a little more acceptance.
My friend's recent loss has brought back the memories of my own beloved mother who departed almost a decade ago. Though it has been a long time since she left us, fond memories of her lived on in my heart and in everyone who loved her dearly. She is like a flower that bloomed in our hearts that will never wilt.
"Our death is not an end if we can live on in our children and the younger generation. For they are us, our bodies are only wilted leaves on the tree of life."
~ Albert Einstein

My Prayer
God, grant me the serenity to accept things I can't change; Courage to change things I can; And wisdom to know the difference.
