Scenario #1:
You have been working your butt off at the gym and have managed to lose a considerable amount of weight. Then you bumped into a friend you've not seen for a couple of months and here's what she/he had to say;
"Hi, haven't seen you for awhile. You seemed to have put on weight, I see."
Scenario #2:
Your daily activities have not changed much and neither does your weight. Your clothes have not become any bigger than before nor is your pants falling from your waist. Then you bumped into a friend you've not seen since a couple of months' ago and here's what she/he had to say;
"Hi, haven't seen you for awhile. You seemed to have lost a lot of weight dear!"
Scenario #3:
You can't for the life of you remember when you turned into a couch-potato but your waist is bursting at the seams. Not onlyy our weight has skyrocketed but your body ballooned! Then you met a friend you've lost touch for a while and here's what she/he got to say;
"Hi, haven't seen you around for ages. You seemed to have lost a lot of weight. How did you do it?!"
LOL ... are these COMPLIMENTS or SCORN? Can a person's judgement truly be so clouded?
It is quite difficult to conclude on such people without being bias. If at all there is no animosity behind the remarks, then it would have been better if nothing was said at all!
Why hurt other people's feelings?

Precisely, if it's a buddy this remarks will never arised. Even if it arised, it will be taken constructively.
It's those who are outside the loop that makes your jaw dropped. It's not about being negative perception, it's just nonsensical remarks. Nothing to better to say, then better not say anything at all. To the wrong people, it can be detrimental psychologically where societal pressure on looks is prioritised.
As for me, I'm happy knowing what I am doing with myself. So it will always be taken as a joke.

Depending onhow you value the person remarks...and also how's your term with the particular person...If Buddy,,you will take it as a joke or maybe, the remark would never arised cos' they see you quite often.
If long time no-see friend...maybe they meant good but due to your negative perception..you think otherwise..be open and take it with a pinch of salt...if you can!!
